Owner of Fons & Porter's Acquires QNN Television
Consumer enthusiast magazine publisher, New Track Media, expands its commitment
to Quilting category with purchase of broadband television channel, QNN TV.
Cambridge, MA - April 27, 2007 - New Track Media LLC, the consumer enthusiast
publishing platform formed last year by Boston Ventures and Stephen J. Kent,
announced today that it has completed the acquisition of QNN TV, also known
as Quilter's News Network TV, a Website that has been owned and operated by
Multicast Media. New Track Media already owns the leading quilting magazine
in the country, Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting, which it acquired last
fall. The President of QNN TV, Jodie Davis, is joining New Track Media effective
with the sale.
"We see this as a logical extension of our commitment to the quilting
subject area and we expect to continue operating the Website as an important
online resource for quilting enthusiasts," commented Stephen Kent, President
of New Track Media. "We have some ideas on how the site can become more
robust, particularly as we expand the streaming of video to include video on
demand functionality, which we should have up and running within the next couple
of months." New Track also owns the television programs that Fons & Porter
has broadcast on PBS for more than 10 years, which the company has said it
expects to make available on QNN TV.
"I am wildly enthusiastic about the opportunities for QNN TV as we become
a part of New Track Media," said Jodie Davis. "These are the right
people because they have the leading magazine and a real interest in expanding
the universe of content available to quilters everywhere, which has been my
personal goal for QNN TV for a long while."
There are no immediate plans to change the QNN TV membership model, although
New Track Media has said that it will be reevaluating the Website's overall
strategy to make it a more valuable and popular resource for quilting enthusiasts
and advertisers. Joel Toner, New Track Media's Vice President and Publishing
Director, commented "we see this as a way to reinforce what we're already
doing for about 300,000 quilters through the magazine, and we're all looking
forward to working with Jodie [Davis] to make sure the site is the best it
can be for this great community of quilting enthusiasts."
